Gentiles Custodial (Temporary) Duty: This Means YOUR Duty

All Joseph Smith-based beliefs can agree that the Book of Mormon has not had the prophesied effect upon the Native Americans that that book speaks of. Native Americans are still impoverished. They are still dependent upon government. The vast majority still vote for abortion-supportive candidates. Many are prideful, aggressive, and frankly, lost. And yet consider Nephi’s prophecy:

And now, I would prophesy somewhat more concerning the Jews and the Gentiles. For after the book of which I have spoken shall come forth, and be written unto the Gentiles, and sealed up again unto the Lord, there shall be many which shall believe the words which are written; and they [Gentiles] shall carry them forth unto the remnant of our seed. And then shall the remnant of our seed know concerning us, how that we came out from Jerusalem, and that they are descendants of the Jews.

And the gospel of Jesus Christ shall be declared among them; wherefore, they shall be restored unto the knowledge of their fathers, and also to the knowledge of Jesus Christ, which was had among their fathers. And then shall they rejoice; for they shall know that it is a blessing unto them from the hand of God; and their scales of darkness shall begin to fall from their eyes; and many generations shall not pass away among them, save they shall be a white and a delightsome people.

2nd Nephi 30

If the Gentiles had been faithful in their duty—to recover the remnant—this would have happened already. But today the LDS church has stated that they are a worldwide church, and will no longer cater to specific groups or ethnicities. And yet the prophecies WILL COME ABOUT—they were not made haphazardly or with no regard to God’s foreknowledge of how events will transpire. The very intent of the sacred records which were passed down throughout generations was that these prophecies, and all that is contained within holy writ, “might come again unto the remnant of the house of Jacob, according to the prophecies and the promises of the Lord.” (4th Nephi 1:49) Or, that:

…none can have power to bring it to light save it be given him of God; for God wills that it shall be done with an eye single to his glory, or the welfare of the ancient and long dispersed covenant people of the Lord.

Mormon 8:15

The blessing to the Gentiles (i.e. LDS) is in their ability to recover this remnant. No salvation exists for a Gentile unless God’s first love is recovered. For who has ever heard of children being adopted into parents which don’t exist? While those who disbelieve in this doctrine of recovery, fight against God and his purposes, and will find out that God is able to do his own work:

O ye Gentiles, have ye remembered… mine ancient covenant people? Nay; but ye have cursed them, and have hated them, and have not sought to recover them. But behold, I will return all these things upon your own heads; for I the Lord have not forgotten my people… And I will show unto them that fight against my word and against my people, who are of the house of Israel, that I am God, and that I covenanted with Abraham that I would remember his seed forever.

see 2nd Nephi 29

The Merriman definition of custodian is “one that guards and protects or maintains.” Being a custodian, or having a custodial duty, was the purpose of the Times of the Gentiles—to maintain the life of the tree in Zenos’ allegory (Jacob 5), which is what occurred when the wild branches were grafted into the natural branches of the tree. Parents have custodial duty of their children until they become adults. A court may grant temporary guardianship of a child to another family member, yet such duties are custodial—or temporary. Prisons have custodial—a designated period of time—duties of inmate jurisdiction, after which are released from these duties. And yet Gentiles want their jurisdiction over the ministry to go on forever! Such is the nature of Gentiles, which has happened before (see Ezra 2)!

Gentile custodianship was not meant to be forever. They are/were to either recover the remnant, or not recover the remnant and fight against God. Either way, the remnant will be recovered. How will the faces of all Joseph Smith-believing Gentiles look when they are told that their righteous acts are actually rebellion, because they have disregarded their one paramount duty to recover the remnant Native Americans—the seed of Abraham—the seed of Isaac—the seed of Jacob—the seed of Joseph—the seed of Lehi (that part of Joseph’s coat which was preserved, see Alma 46:23-24)?

It behooves the Gentiles to NOT fight the doctrine of Christ, but to be awake and aware of the roadmap to enlivening their own righteous purposes before an all-seeing, all-knowing, all-powerful God. For this righteousness pertains to the Lord’s interest in recovering the remnant Native Americans, and all other righteous purposes of a Gentile are empty when this has been, or is being, disregarded!

And now behold, this I speak unto their seed [a remnant of these people], and also to the Gentiles who have care for the house of Israel, that realize and know from whence their blessings come. For I know that such [righteous Gentiles] will sorrow for the calamity of the house of Israel; yea, they will sorrow for the destruction of this people; they will sorrow that this people had not repented that they might have been clasped in the arms of Jesus.

Mormon 5:10-11

The book mentioned in 2nd Nephi 30 shown in the beginning of this writing—which could have been the Book of Mormon under the custodial duties of righteous Gentiles—is, in reality the Book of the Remnant, a volume of scripture written by the Indian prophet living today. There is still good news to the Gentiles, since they can repent anytime, and seek the welfare of the ancient and long dispersed covenant people of the Lord. But at some point, it will be too late.
